September 2026 Update

Hello my friends. I realize that I have been extremely lax about posting blogs for this website. However, I want to make this a monthly event so you know what is going on in my life. I also have two book signings coming up which are shown here.

This has been a tough year in some ways. I collapsed in December and have been in either Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy for nine months - 24 weeks. I have two herniated discs, arthritis and spinal stenosis. The bad news is I let a lot of stuff go because of all the time therapy took. The good news is that it is working! Where once I could barely stand because of my back, I went from that to walking a half mile every day with Davina again. I then asked for balance exercises, and my balance has improved. Then I developed trigger finger, which is an occupational hazard for writers, and the occupational therapists have helped that and showed me even more exercises. Finally, I have had shoulder problems for years and they have assisted me with that.

I put therapists in the same category as oncology nurses - angels. I was involved in a program at the Hoover Historical Center recently and three nurses from the oncology floor came to see me. I was so touched, but I have been going there for 16 years and they are now family!

I also have been so thrilled with the reactions to The Hoover Children that I am writing a sequel about when they returned to Great Britain and the problems of adjusting to life there again.
